CA EDGE HINGE Slot cutting jig FOR BALSA – by Pat Tritle

CA hinge slot jig

Description

This handy 3D-printed tool is specifically made for installing CA hinges in small balsa models – close to the edge of the control surface.   Its really hard to do a precise job with a knife blade but the tool makes it easy and safe.  Pat Tritle’s original design was made from scrap balsa in his workshop and he suggested that we could offer this 3D-printed tool to modelers.

The tool guides the knife blade to make slots for CA hinges   The tool has THREE slots to set the hinge 1/16″, 3/32″, or 1/8″ from the edge (red line in the picture below) depending on which slot you use.   If you make tickmarks with a felt pen, the three small “viewports” will guide your work.

The smaller 1.5″ size is for relatively thin ailerons, the 2.25″ size is for larger ones. You can pick from TWO types – one has knife slots for Scalpel blades and the other is for standard #11 hobby blades.

Material: 3D-printed PETG Plastic
