Some RC models are replicas of "home built" aircraft that utilized a VW motor, such as the Jodel D-9 "Bebe" or "Jeanie's Teeny". We've produced this kit for the model VW motor (two halves).

This 3-D printed piece was created by Thingiverse user "Maker_Flal" on Thingiverse for the Jodel "Bebe" airplane: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5734182 and is licensed under Creative Commons - Attribution.
The model consists of separate left and right-side engine blocks with valve covers and exhaust stacks.
The design was modified by Rabid Models (it was divided into separate parts for assembly and resized to be 1/6 scale. The two engine block halves are identical - the exhaust tubes are reversed for the opposite side. The two halves are designed to be mounted on each side of the fuselage about 50-55mm apart (2-2.15 inches) but of course it can be mounted on wider fuselages, or recessed if needed. The model does NOT include the intake manifold or pushrods - the modeler can add these details if desired. Unfortunately, the original designer didn't include those in his design.
The replica VW motor is supplied as a kit - the motor is divided into two blocks which are glued together, then the valve cover is glued on, finally the two exhaust tubes are glued to each side. The prototype is pictured here "as-is", no attempt was made to fix anything - so this is how the parts look without any modification or added detail.

Specifications:
The model VW Motor has 10 pieces, made from 3D-Printed White PETG. There are 5 parts in each side which must be glued together and assembled.
Motor case width: 49.2mm (1/6 scale)
The overall size (not including the exhaust stacks) of one half is about 2 inches wide, 1.4 inches deep, 1.3 inches tall.
Total Weight (both halves): 37.5 grams (about 1.3 ounce).
The plastic 3D-printed parts are supplied unfinished and unpainted. The parts may be sanded and the glue joint may be easily filled and sanded smooth if desired - and we recommend painting with any plastic-compatible paint. Painting is important because all plastics will deteriorate over time if exposed to sunlight.
Its possible for this model to be produced in larger or smaller sizes. Contact us for details if this is of interest to you.
