This kit creates a replica of a "Vickers Machine Gun". We produced it in approximately 1/6 scale which will work with several different WWI biplanes.
We can produce this in larger sizes, contact us for details. Making this model in a smaller size is not practical due to the small size of some of the parts.
The Vickers machine gun was a water-cooled 0.303-caliber weapon that was developed in 1912 (before WWI) by the British. It was modified for use on many WWI aircraft - since water cooling wasn't necessary, cooling holes were cut into the jacket. During World War I, the Vickers became a standard weapon on British and French military aircraft especially after 1916. Initially used in a single gun configuration (Nieuport 17, SPAD VII, Sopwith Triplane), it was later used in a twin configuration (Nieuport 28, SPAD XIII, Sopwith Camel) and the Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5 had a single synchronized Vickers on the left side of the fuselage with a Lewis gun mounted above the upper wing. The Vickers machine gun stayed in use until 1968!
This 3-D printed piece was created by Thingiverse user "Jfpion" and is licensed under Creative Commons - Attribution. You can see the original model here. The model was modified by Rabid Models for production and assembly (it was divided into separate parts and scaled to size.)
The replica Vickers gun is supplied as a kit - the separate 3D-printed parts must be glued together into assemblies which are then glued together to produce the finished model. The prototype pictured here was painted (2 colors) without any modification - this is how the parts look without any filling, smoothing, or added detail. An "ammo belt" is included (its extremely fragile). Its possible for a talented builder to add a little more detail as desired. This model does not come with a mount.

Specifications:
The Vickers Gun Kit has 11 pieces, made from 3D-Printed White PETG. There are 4 assemblies in two halves which must be glued together first, then the other parts are added to make up the entire model. An extra ammo belt is included. Instructions for assembly are included.
Completed model length: approx. 6.5 inches
Weight: 19.5 grams (about 0.7 ounce) - glued & painted.
The plastic 3D-printed parts are supplied unfinished and unpainted. They can be easily trimmed & filled and sanded smooth - and we recommend painting with any plastic-compatible paint. Painting is important because plastics will deteriorate over time if exposed to direct sunlight.
