Our 17gm 1700kv brushless motor (also called the 2211) fits in the product line in between our 10gm and 24gm motors - its the motor we recommend for the "Regular Komet" kit that we sell. This motor can be used with 2S or 3S Lipo batteries and uses a 7x6 or 8x4 2-blade propeller. Rated at 250gm thrust at 6 amps, 2mm motor shaft.
The 17gm motor is fairly light but can use a larger propeller than our 10gm motor, making it a good choice for lightweight "park flyer" models.
This item comes with a standard firewall aluminum motor mount. You'll need an ESC, a suitable propeller with a prop adapter or O-ring propsaver, and a plywood firewall. These items are not included, but sold separately. For best results we strongly recommend using a removeable "threadlocker" compound on the tiny grub screws that hold the motor to the aluminum motor mount. You'll also need some tiny wood screws to attach the motor mount to a firewall (also available separately).
As with all brushless motors, a brushless ESC is required (available separately). Current draw is around 6-7 amps with a 3-cell battery. The direction of rotation can be reversed by switching any 2 of the 3 motor leads.
Note: Using the 17gm motor, the Rabid Models "Regular Komet" is a relatively lightweight and easy park flyer. You may also use the larger 1350kv "Blue Wonder" motor with an 8x6 prop, but you'll need a larger battery up front. The result will be a heavier model and it will fly quite a bit faster.
