This very popular 24gm 1300kv brushless motor (also called 2730) is truly versatile, which is why it earned the nickname "Blue Wonder".
It once had a blue color (unfortunately the current versions are silver) and it received the nickname because it can handle such a wide variety of propellers and can be used with 2S or 3S Lipo batteries. Its meant for lightweight RC airplanes, say 12-16 ounces. The maximum recommended current draw is around 10 amps. The recommended 2-blade propeller with a 3S system is an 8x6, and on our larger Rabid Models twin-engine models it performs very well with a 9x7 3-bladed propeller. We've used it with a 12x3 prop on a 2S ultra-light Marionette model.
Motor Specs:
RPM rating: 1300kv (no load)
Size: 27x30mm
Shaft size: 3mm
Weight: about 24gms (1oz)
Voltage - 2S or 3S battery
Power - 90 watts approx. at 8 amps (with 3S battery)
Recommended props - 8x6 2-blade (or 9x7 3 blade when used in twin-motor configuration)
The motor is supplied with the aluminum motor mount and 2mm bullet connectors. You'll need a 10 or 15-amp ESC, a suitable propeller, and a propsaver or prop adapter (not included, but we sell these items separately). For best results we strongly recommend using a removeable "threadlocker" compound on the tiny grub screws when securing the motor to the mount. You will also need some kind of "firewall", we sell them but a piece of 1/8" plywood will work.
We offer several custom-designed 3D-printed spinners specifically designed for the 3-bladed props in varieties appropriate for our models.
This motor is also available in a 1700kv version (we call it the "Blue Monster" and a 3000kv version (called the OMG). All three versions are the same physical size and weight but differ in RRM and current draw. The higher-kV ones use smaller props.
This picture shows an original "Blue Wonder" motor mounted on the Rabid Models HE219 UHU with a 9x7 3-blade prop (the propsaver propeller mount isn't included in this posed picture)
