HANRIOT HD-1 and ROLAND D.VI 3D-printed detail parts

Derek Micko's "Fun Scale Models" 30" Hanriot HD-1 and Paul Kohlmann's Roland D.VI were both featured in the Oct 2026 issue of Model Aviation!

Rabid Models is producing the 3D-printed 2 1/4" tire and hub that Derek designed specifically for the Hanriot.  The Roland D.VI uses the same size wheel, with flat hubs on both sides. 

We also have the 1300kv "blue wonder" brushless motor and 12amp ESC package available for the Hanriot.  Derek used 4.3gm servos for the rudder and elevator, which we also sell. 

For Paul Kohlmann's Roland D.VI, which was also in the Oct issue, we have the 1700kv "blue wonder" motor package, as well as the 3D-printed 1/12 scale Mercedes motor head with exhaust, and a custom spinner.  (the spinner is 2pcs, the cone snaps onto the backplate). We also have the servos that Paul used. The 3D-printed parts for the Roland were designed by Thingiverse user Longhorne, and is licensed under Creative Commons - Attribution - Share Alike.   As on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7303636

(note, we don't have the propellers for these planes.  The Hanriot's 3D-printed wheel and tire can be made in other sizes to work with other WWI planes like the French Nieuport 17.  Contact us if you'd like a custom size.)

SPECIFICATIONS:

TIRE: black flexible TPU (hollow) - 2.25" diameter x 0.3" wide.  

WHEEL HUB SET: white PETG.   The 2 hub halves make one wheel hub. Total width at the axle: 0.45". The hubs are not painted. Note: the outside hub has the detail shown, the inside hub is completely flat.

One 2.25" wheel & hub weighs about 11.9 gms (0.42 oz).  The smaller 1.75" wheel & hub weighs about 6.7gms (0.24oz).

Available as a complete set of 2 wheels, or you can purchase separately as spare parts.

Note: These wheels can be manufactured in other sizes (larger or smaller) to fit other models (like the SE-5a for example). Refer to the last picture!  If you need these wheels to be 2" diameter, or 1.5" diameter, we can do that - contact us for details.

3D-printed parts are unpainted but require very little preparation - they can be painted with any plastic-compatible paint. Painting is recommended because all plastics will deteriorate over time if exposed to sunlight. The wheel hubs can be glued together with CA or Foam-Tac cement. The two hub halves are designed to be glued onto the wheel and have starter holes for the axle - carefully drill out the holes to match the axle wire size you are using.
