Spinner Version

The 40mm diameter 3D-printed 4-blade spinner (cone and backplate) was designed specifically for the 30" wingspan "Fun Scale Models" P63 Kingcobra model, as shown in the February 2022 issue of Model Aviation magazine.

This spinner is designed to be used with a 7x4 4-bladed propeller, NOT included. Sorry, Rabid Models doesn't carry this one.  However, its available as spare parts for the 750mm Volantex RC Model P-51 Mustang: part# 768-1 - please see the picture below). Also, FMS makes a 7x4.5 4-bladed propeller which will also be suitable.

The spinner is for use ONLY with electric motors and propellers.  In addition to the propeller you will need a prop adapter to mount the spinner and prop on your motor shaft (we do have the prop adapter).

The recommended motor is a 24gm 1700KV brushless motor (see the "power packs" section of the catalog) and a 2-cell battery. Once the backplate is installed on your motor shaft with a prop adapter, the spinner cone simply snaps on - no additional hardware is needed! If you desire, you can drill a small hole in the center of the cone to mount a cannon barrel!

Spinner Specifications:

White PETG. Weight about 7.5 gms total (2 pcs).
The diameter at the base is 40mm (1.57 inches)

The spinner backplate has a centering hole which needs to be drilled out to fit your prop adapter. You may also need to drill out the center of your propeller to use the prop adapter. Some props may require the prop cutouts in the spinner to be slightly enlarged. Here's a video from Fun Scale Models which shows how to finish and install these spinners.

This item is sold as a set (one Cone and one Backplate). The plastic parts are unfinished - but they can be sanded smooth and painted with any plastic-compatible paint. Painting is recommended because all plastics will deteriorate over time if exposed to sunlight.

NOTE: this spinner is also available in a 3-blade version for the P39 Airacobra.

This picture shows Steven Mathiasen's completed Kingcobra model with added cannon!

NOTE: Here is the construction article from the FEB 2022 Model Aviation magazine, including some pictures of the finished model with the spinner!
