"Mini" Edge Sander Tool Set - 4 sizes for shaping BALSA LE & TE

As featured in the March 2025 Model Aviation magazine!   

These small & handy 3D-printed tools are specifically designed for small models - for preparing balsa aileron and elevator leading and trailing edges.  Put a perfect 2-sided BEVEL on the hinge edges, or round over leading edges as well.   

These tools are meant for smaller-size soft balsa parts, such as 3/32, 1/8, 3/16 thicknesses. The Mini Edge Sanders can also work on sandable foam, such as Depron!

They fit in your hand like a toothbrush!

This set include 4 different shapes:

• A 90-degree opening (for making 45-degree bevels
• A 60-degree opening (for making 30-degree bevels)
• A small half-round sander (1cm-3/8" radius)
• A larger half-round sander (5mm-3/16" radius).

 All four have flat sides as well, which can be handy for other tasks.

UPDATE: Two new shapes are available separately:  a parabolic sander and a convex sander for inside curves & fillets.  And we also have larger tools for 1/4" balsa.

The mini tools come with 150-grit sandpaper attached.  Note: the color of the paper may vary depending on the stock that's used. You can remove the paper if needed by applying foam-safe CA activator to dissolve the glue. New sandpaper can be attached using a contact cement such as 3M brand "77" spray adhesive.

The length of the paper is about 2 1/3 inches (6cm) - these tools are quite small (about 4 inches long including the handle) and are purpose-made for small jobs and precision work. The sandpaper wraps around the sides providing additional flat sanding surfaces for other uses. This picture shows the 60-degree tool.
