This is a set of small 3D-printed plastic hinges that you can use to simulate "Fowler flaps" on your small RC model. Custom-designed by Rabid Models!
This part is designed to be inserted & glued into a slot in a foam control surface or glued directly into a balsa structure. The hinge is extended out and below the surface, so the flap moves down and away. Hopefully the pictures are explanatory. This is made for use with SMALL models. Sold in a set of two pairs (4 pcs).
This item can also be useful as control horns for medium-size lightweight RC planes. The hole is for 1/32" wire and you'll need to use a very small piece of wire to use as a hinge. Please see the pictures! Two sizes are available.
More Info.: These are about 1 inch long and 1/16" thick (there are two different sizes). The "blade" which is inserted into the foam as an anchor point is 15mm long and 5mm deep. When imbedded in 5mm foam, the attachment point is 5mm above the surface. The hole is suitable for .032-size wire but you can enlarge the hole to 0.039 or 0.047 if needed. Weight: negligible. Made of white PETG plastic.
The picture shows the hinge with the 10mm extension. There are several possibilities for this product - One piece could be used as a control horn for a pushrod. The offset design could be handy for rudders. As flap hinges, these could be set up in "gangs" to make multiple-flap sections that move out and down. Flat pieces of foam are shown in the picture, but of course you can shape the LE of the flap to notch into the TW of the wing, or add a thin cardstock "cover" to the top to cover the gap.
