IPS 12x30mm brushed motor

The IPS motor (the GWS company offered it for their "indoor power system") was a very popular option for small RC models.  They could be used as direct-drive or in a gearbox. The motors are still available from China but finding brushed ESCs can be a challenge.

Note that there are a few versions available.

The 25K version is the one that works very well with our 28" models.  Its meant for a 1S or 2S battery.  A 3S battery will burn out the motor!  Typical propeller when used with a 2S battery is a 2-blade 3x3 or 4x2.5. 

This motor does not come with capacitors or motor wires!  GWS originally supplied them with a single capacitor across the motor terminals to suppress RF interference. Its highly recommended that two more capacitors be fitted, one from each motor terminal to the case. Value can be 0.1 or 0.05 microfarads.  The capacitors help the motor run smoother and suppress RF interference which can negatively affect radio performance.

You'll need a small soldering iron to very carefully attach the motor wires (not included) and a brushed ESC. The 25K motor draws less than 1 amp at full power with a 2S battery. 

The motor is 12x30mm and weighs about 15gms.   The 45K motor (for EDF use, and 3S power) has a 5mm-long shaft, the 15 and 25K motors have an 8mm-long shaft. The motor shaft diameter is 1.5mm and we recommend using an O-ring propsaver for the propeller mount. Periodic lubrication is recommended.
