40" P-38 Fork-Tailed Devil Kit

The Rabid Models "FTD" kit includes the foam parts needed to build this profile R/C model, along with a fully detailed construction manual and some accessories such as carbon fiber and the pull-pull control system. The model is not assembled or painted, so the customer needs to supply glue, paint, and other hobby tools, servos, motors, and electronics in order to put it together and finish it.

This model is designed for two 1300 KV 1-oz brushless motors and 3-bladed 9x7 propellers (not included but available separately from Rabid Models). Total weight when finished is about 10.5 oz (14oz with 3-cell 1350mah battery). We offer the motor items as a "combo package" as well as servos and a receiver, but your batteries must be purchased elsewhere. You may use a 2S or 3S battery.

This laser-cut kit includes some etched "panel lines" for some added detail. The kit files include the cockpit and other markings which can be printed on paper and turned into "decals" with spray adhesive.

Rabid Models now offers 3D-printed scale tires, wheels, and decorative wire strut covers which can be used if you decide to add a simple wire landing gear to this model. This video shows exactly how to do it and you can download the instructions here.

Jeff Troy built two - his 40" P38 is in the background and the smaller 28" version is up front! He installed expensive custom-made Tru-Turn© aluminum spinners. Spinners are not included with this kit but our custom-designed 3D-printed plastic spinners are available separately and can be seen in the main product photo. This model looks great with the spinners so we highly recommend them!
